July 1, Day 68 Mt Molloy

Back on the road again now.  We picked up our new awning at 5pm Tuesday ready to hit the road this morning. Thanks to Miklosh at Kustom Canvas in Garbutt for a great job.

Huge thankyou to Geoff's parents for putting up with us for the last 6 weeks and sending us off with various baked goodies and sandwiches for lunch. Very much appreciated.

We stopped at Millaa Millaa Falls for a late picnic lunch before making our way to Mt Molloy to make use of their free rest area (well $2 per vehicle anyway) arriving just before dark at around 6pm. We stayed there last year in April on our way through to Cooktown and found it to be rather pleasant, sharing it with 3 other campers. Imagine our surprise when we turned the bend and found it absolutely chockers! At least 40 campers/vans packed in wall to wall. Thankfully a couple in a Mitsubishi 4WD van moved a little so we could camp in next to them. Thanks guys. We recognised a guy camped across from us who we met at Moura in our first week on the road. Small world, isn't it? He had just returned from a trip up the Cape and said that the roads were really good at the moment, so we may just have to go up, we'll see if we can talk Terry and Carolyn into joining us, we are meeting up with them tomorrow here to head up to Lions Den Hotel together.
